Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a wide medium to large triangular contracting stem with an elliptical cross section. The blade may vary from straight to slightly excurvate, the blade may be serrated. The shoulders are commonly asymmetrical and may range from horizontal to barbed. The stem is contracting with a convex to pointed base. This type is made using primary percussion flaking then subsequent pressure flaking to finish the blade and stem with a flaking pattern most commonly random, but may range to chevron or oblique.

This point is primarily found on the north Coastal Ranges, the Central Valley, and the San Francisco Bay area. This type is commonly found with Excelsior type points, and were previously included in that type. Excelsior points have been reported into Baja California so these types could also extend into that area.
