Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium expanding stem point with an elliptical or median ridge cross section. The blade has an excurvate shape. Wide parallel notches form a shoulder that may range from horizontal to having an upward angle and an expanding stem. Unlike the Hanna point, this point will have a straight to convex base and rounded basal corners. This point commonly has grinding on the base and stem, and may have basal thinning. This point may vary from collateral to random flaking.

This complex has four main points associated with it. The McKean point, Duncan Point, Hanna Point, Mallory, and the Yonkee point. On collectors type, the Hanna Northern, is a variant of the Hanna point.
The Duncan point is noted for a straight to upward angled shoulder with a straight to slightly expanding stem. The Hanna point is noted for the barbed shoulder and a expanding stem. It has been thought that the Hanna and Duncan point are the same point and just a continuum of evolution. It has been proposed that this point should be called the Duncan-Hanna (David and Keyser, 1999). This page has listed these points as separate point instead of combining them.
