Justice is a distinguished Anthropologist and Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University. This point was named in his book on points of the Southwest. There are currently few professional references to this type. This is considered a provisional type.
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular expanding stem with an elliptical cross section. The blade may vary from straight to incurvate, flaring at the shoulders edge. The blade is commonly deeply serrated. Many examples have multiple notches on one or both blades on the shoulders edge. The shoulders are generally barbed, but may range to horizontal. The stem is expanding and most commonly had a narrow neck. The base is convex giving many of these points a bulbous appearance of the stem. This point has a random flaking pattern.

These points were originally were included in the Cienega type defined by Huckell and Haury in 1988. The Cienega type was sub-divided into the Tularosa Corner Notch, Tularosa Basal Notch, and the Guadalupe point by Justice in 2002.

This point is primarily found in the Trans-Pecos region of New Mexico and throughout the Guadalupe Mountains. This point has been reported as far as Chaco Canyon with decreased frequency and west as far as Point of the Pines. This point is found into the northern Rio Grande valley. Distribution extends into Sonora, Chihuahua, and Coahuila Mexico.
