Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a thick small to medium triangular contracting stem with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate, but may vary to straight on smaller examples.  The shoulders are at an upward angle and rounded.  The stem is short, broad, and contracting.  The base varies from convex to straight bases.  Bullen describes 4 subtypes and notes that subtype 4 may have a snapped base.  This point is often crudely made and has a random flaking pattern.

The exact dates for this point is still unknown.  This point is though to represent the end of the Florida Archaic Stemmed Cluster and thought to be dated to post Orange period in Florida and Georgia (Granger and Granger, 2013).

**
Farr (2006) suggest that when Neill named this point in 1966 he was unaware of Coe's research (1964) and naming of the Morrow Mountain type point.  He suggest that this is the same point as the Morrow Mountain.  However, Farr argues that the Morrow Mountain does not extend into Florida and this point has a distribution into Florida.
