Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a medium triangular basal notch point with an elliptical to flattened cross section.  The blade may vary from straight to slightly incurvate.  The shoulders are barbed.  Many examples have the shoulders extending to the base of the point, but re-sharpened examples have reduced shoulders.  Notches enter from the base and range from a narrow U-shape to a wide arch.  The stem may vary from straight to contracting.  However, examples with diagonal notches have a slightly expanding stem.  The base may range from straight to convex.  This point has a random flaking pattern.    

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 26 to 67 mm,  Stem Length - 6 to 10 mm,  Max Blade Width - 24 to 39 mm,  Stem Width - 8 to 12 mm,  Thickness - 5 to 8 mm

This point is primarily found in the central Sierra Nevada range and surrounding region.

Additional Comments:

These point are primarily made from Basalt and are generally large than Eastgate points.  However, these two points are commonly confused for each other (Justice, 2002).

These points are not related to the Norden points found in Florida.
